2019-07-15
Introduction Psoralea corylifolia L. (Leguminosae) is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine, and it has been widely used for the treatment of various diseases like bronchial asthma, leucopenia, vitiligo and psoriasis in East Asian countries (Zhang et al., 1990). Previous studies have reported t

2019-07-15
The early serologic response of infants to infection with HIV-1 is obscured by the presence of transplacentally acquired maternal HIV antibody. However, the HIV biotin-LC-LC-tyramide produced in vitro by peripheral blood from infants has been studied (Pollack et al., 1993) and it has been shown tha

2019-07-15
Although intact Chk is distributed throughout the nucleus and the cytoplasm (Fig. 1), the deletion of the SH2 domain greatly augments nuclear localization of Chk. The SH2 domain-deleted mutants might lose the ability to localize to the exterior of the nucleus due to a lack of the binding to a hypoth

EphB and ephrinB mRNA levels
2019-07-15
EphB4 and ephrinB2 mRNA levels were determined from three parts taken from each tumor, and each sample was analyzed in triplicate. The differences in the histoscores and mRNA levels of EphB4 and ephrinB2 were analyzed by Student\'s t test. The correlation coefficients were evaluated both by linear r

2019-07-15
In conclusion, we for the first time demonstrated the enzyme activity and immunoprotective traits of bioactive recombinant SjCE-2b, which was successfully recovered by protein refolding from inclusion bodies. The results address two essential questions that were undocumented in previous investigatio

2019-07-15
A cocktail approach can detect the activities of multiple CYP 450 isoforms following administration of multiple CYP-specific substrates in a single experiment. Caffeine, losartan, omeprazole, dextromethorphan and midazolam are often used as substrates in “cocktail probes” of human cytochrome CYP1A2,

2019-07-13
ERRGO mice exhibited increased oxygen consumption, decreased RER, high running endurance, and resistance to diet-induced weight gain. These changes are physiological hallmarks of increased aerobic capacity in mice and are a direct consequence of engineering highly oxidative and vascularized muscle by ERRγ.

2019-07-12
The large body of structural knowledge that is currently available for CRM1 has contributed to atomic level and mechanistic understanding of many steps in the CRM1 nuclear export cycle. However, structural analysis could still inform on several outstanding questions and guide future discoveries pertaining to CRM1-mediated nuclear export.

2019-07-11
Previous study showed that CXCR plays an important role in viral infection and that CXCR1, as an important molecule in CXCR, also plays important roles in viral pathogenesis [[39], [40], [41], [42]]. In mammals, CXCR1 plays an important role in resisting viral infection [43,44], and CXCR1 plays an important role in acute inflammation and innate immunity and is a prototype receptor for inflammatory (induced) cytokines [45].

2019-07-10
These data raised from human tissues suggested a potential link between TGF-β1 signaling and linear invadosome machinery that may explain TGF-β involvement in HCC progression and invasion. Using HCC cultured cells, we confirmed that TGF-β1 stimulation increases the production and secretion of collagen I and LOXL2 and we demonstrated that DDR1 is also a target of TGF-β1 signaling.

2019-07-09
Introduction Cerebral stroke causes an efflux of various groups of progenitor and stem cells from bone marrow to bloodstream and the levels of these cells correlate with neurological status of stroke patients (Gójska-Grymajło et al., 2012, 2018). It is thought that paracrine factors produced by the injured cerebral tissue attract progenitor/stem cells that in turn secrete a variety of trophic factors and extracellular vesicles that help to restore function of the ischemic region and enhance neuroplasticity (Beer et al., 2016).

2019-07-08
Introduction Psychiatric comorbidities affect up to 70% of people with pharmacoresistant epilepsy and significantly impact quality of life [1]. Psychiatric comorbidities in epilepsy have been thought to be due to psychosocial stress. However, recent evidence suggests a more complex pathogenesis. Not only are individuals with epilepsy two times more likely to develop depression, but also individuals with depression are 2.5 times more likely to develop epilepsy [2].

The androgen receptor AR is a steroid hormone receptor
2019-07-05
The androgen receptor (AR) is a steroid hormone receptor that plays a crucial role in the normal development of male reproductive tissues, and its high expression and/or relaxation of its regulation are strongly implicated in prostate cancer (PCa) [11]. Androgen binding induces conformational changes of AR that influence its interactions with other proteins and DNA as well as its subcellular localization and transcriptional activity.

Neonatal hydronephrosis induced by TCDD exposure
2019-07-04
Neonatal hydronephrosis induced by TCDD exposure via lactation has a critical window for onset: the incidence of this disease peaks around PNDs 1–4, followed by a rapid decrease to a substantially null level in adulthood (Couture-Haws et al., 1991; Yoshioka et al., 2016). The EP1 protein was localized in the intramedullary collecting ducts in neonatal kidneys (Fig. 6), and it was found to be abundant in the neonatal period, followed by a decrease after weaning in rats (Brennan et al., 2008).
